RB Rashaad Lee commits to FAU

One of the things Florida Atlantic head coach Carl Pelini wanted to do upon taking the job was strengthen the program’s relationships with high schools around the state.

It appears Pensacola (Fla.) Pine Forest has bought in, as running back Rashaad Lee became the third member of the program to commit to FAU -- the 10th member of the class of 2013 for the Fighting Owls.

“FAU offered me right after spring and they have always been good about showing me a lot of love,” Lee explained. “And I have two teammates committed there already. We wanted to play together at the same school so everything was there for me.”

The 5-foot-6, 180-pound Lee says he will visit the school next week. He joins teammates DeMarcus Glover and JonDarius Gardner, who committed to the Owls earlier in the month. Lee will be brought in as a running back and may assist on special teams.

“They want me to touch the ball as much as possible, and I just want to bring a spark to the offense and the program in general,” Lee said. “It’s a nice place to play. They have a brand new stadium, new facilities and they want to compete for conference championships.”

Lee says his style of football is comparable to Jacquizz Rodgers.

“I try to do it all as a running back, a little speed, a little power,” Lee said. “I’m not the biggest but I’m well-built and I can run inside or outside and catch the ball out of backfield.”
