Josh Augusta (Peoria, Ill./Peoria) took an official visit to Ole Miss this weekend, and the trip gave the Rebels a puncher's chance in the ESPN 150 defensive tackle's recruitment.
"I loved it," Augusta said.
The 6-foot-4, 275-pound lineman was making his first official visit of the process and took in his first Ole Miss game. The Rebels hosted in-state rival Mississippi State and defeated the Bulldogs 41-24.
It was a big win for the Rebels for more than just the fact they beat their biggest rivals. The win gives the Rebels six wins and they are now eligible for a bowl game. The win also came with Augusta and fellow ESPN 150 prospects Elijah Daniel and Robert Nkemdiche, the No. 1 player in the ESPN 150, on hand.
Augusta said the best part of his visit was the atmosphere of the Egg Bowl, and it helped the Rebels' cause.
The Rebels sit third on Augusta's list behind Missouri and Michigan State. He will take an official visit to Missouri the weekend of Dec. 7 and a visit to Illinois, his No. 4 school, in January.
