Three-star wide receiver Marquez Valdes (St. Petersburg, Fla./Lakewood) was working to be part of Louisville’s class during the season, but with six weeks before signing day it appears that the 6-foot-2, 190-pound senior could be looking in a new direction.
On Tuesday Valdes received offers from both Cincinnati and Kentucky.
“Right now I’m looking around, and new schools are contacting me daily,” Valdes said. “I’ve heard from coach [Chad] Scott at Kentucky, and they are coming after me hard.
“They believe I could make an immediate impact, because they need receivers and they want to throw the ball around.”
Valdes already has taken official visits to Houston and Toledo. He has yet to decide where he’ll take his other visits, but he has several options.
“I think Kentucky will be in there, because it’s an SEC school, and that’s a great opportunity,” Valdes added. “Maybe I will take a look at Iowa State too. I might also want to see if Louisville is still looking.”
Valdes had more than 550 yards receiving and six touchdowns in his senior season.
