There's little doubt that 2013 Under Armour All-America cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III (Tampa, Fla./Wharton) dominated much of the action.
However, he did suffer a defeat at the hands of an old foe during the one-on-one sessions.
Armwood (Seffner, Fla.) wide receiver Alvin Bailey got the best of Hargreaves late in the competition and the two shared a quick laugh afterwards.
"I got him on a straight nine route right down the field," Bailey said. "Vern was beating me and [Richard Benjamin] in all the timing drills so I had to try to get him in the one-on-ones."
Hargreaves took his defeat graciously.
"Man you know he got me on that straight nine route and it happens," Hargreaves said. "Alvin is a great player and he is always up for the competition.
"It's hard to keep a great player down."
Green has good words for Vereen
Chalk up another impressive performance for St. Pete Catholic (St. Petersburg, Fla.) running back Ryan Green.
With offers from Florida State, Florida, South Florida, Notre Dame, Kentucky and several other schools Green is quickly becoming a hot prospect.
"I had a great day and it's going to be the start of a pretty active offseason for me," Green said. "Hopefully I'll visit a lot of campuses and see everything I need to see."
Green has visited Notre Dame, Florida and FSU so far.
During the competition Green gave a strong endorsement of West Orange linebacker Corey Vereen.
"I thought [Corey] was the best linebacker here," Green said. "He was definitely the best linebacker I faced.
"Real physical and has good speed. I thought he was a good competitor."
Vereen, another Class of 2013 prospect, currently holds offers from Minnesota and Purdue.
