UF gets hometown help with 2015 OLB

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Florida coaching staff is pursuing class of 2015 outside linebacker Jeffrey Holland pretty hard, but that’s nothing compared to how hard he’s being courted by a couple of Gators players.

Freshman safety Nick Washington and freshman linebacker Daniel McMillian spent a lot of time on Friday with the 6-foot-2, 226-pound Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian standout during the Gators’ annual Friday Night Lights camp. Washington (Trinity Christian) and McMillian (Jacksonville, Fla./First Coast) are both former prep standouts in Jacksonville and are working hard to convince Holland to head to Gainesville, too.

"Nick, my boy D-Mac [are working him pretty hard]," Holland said. "We’re going to just sit and talk about the future. [McMillian] was talking to me about the playbook earlier. How easy it is to learn, things like that."

And if he needs any further convincing about Florida, all he needs to do is listen to Trinity Christian assistant coach Guss Scott. He was a safety at Florida from 2000-03. Of course, he also gets an alternate view from another Trinity Christian assistant: Gerard Ross, who played at Florida State from 2002-05.

Holland said he wants to visit Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee and Ohio State before he commits but said he hasn’t yet scheduled those visits.
