Last week Riviera Beach (Fla.) Suncoast two-star defensive back Davison Colimon became the 15th commitment to Florida International University.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder had offers from Florida Atlantic, Southern Methodist, Northern Illinois, Middle Tennessee and several others but liked the stability that FIU had to offer.
“It’s a nice campus and it’s close to home,” Colimon said. “The coaching staff is happy and committed. I believe that they want to build something great at Florida International and I want to be part of that.”
The Golden Panthers got off to a strong start with victories over Louisville and UCF, two games that Colimon said sold him on the program.
“They want to take the challenges and beat the bigger schools,” Colimon said. “There are a lot of players I know in the program, a lot of local players and they just want to show that football at FIU can be competitive against anyone in the nation.”
Colimon says he’ll be taken his official visit to FIU on October 24 when the Golden Panthers host Troy.
He says he’s finished with the recruiting process.
“I’m done and happy to be a Golden Panther,” Colimon added.
Colimon ranks as the No. 114 safety in the nation.
