Shelton still talking to schools

Plantation (Fla.) defensive back Sojourn Shelton helped the South Florida Express Elite win the IMG Madden Football 7-on-7 regional tournament in late March and the 5-foot-9, 170-pound junior is expected to bring his talents to Tallahassee in a year.

But until signing day, expect Shelton to continue to talk to other programs.

"I'm happy with Florida State and that's where I hope to end up," Shelton said. "But recruiting is a process and it's important not to close any doors. Still I talk to the FSU coaches like Coach [Eddie] Gran and Coach [Mark] Stoops and everything is good."

Shelton expects several visitors during the spring.

"I've been talking to a few schools like Wisconsin and South Carolina," Shelton said. "They have offered and they will be here in the spring to watch me."

Shelton said he'll probably take official visits to both schools and unofficials to the Florida schools.

"I'm going to save my officials for the out-of-state programs," Shelton said. "West Virginia might be in there too because they are talking to me a lot. I will see everything I need to see."

Right now Shelton is working with South Florida Express and on his own to be bigger and better as a senior.

"I'm putting time in on the track and the weight room because I want to be a more physical player," Shelton added. "It's hard work but it's going to show up this season."
