Clemson picked up commitment No. 6 with the addition of running back/athlete Wayne Gallman (Loganville, Ga./Grayson).
“Wayne actually committed to Clemson [Tuesday] last night,” Grayson coach Mickey Conn said. “They are getting a tremendous athlete. They are recruiting him as a running back but Wayne can do a lot of different things. He can run the ball, play safety or even linebacker on defense. They are getting a very good athlete and an even better kid.”
Gallman, 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, doesn’t have a lot of wear and tear, according to Conn. He feels he has a bright future in the Tigers offense.
“It’s funny,” Conn said. “We run the Wing-T and four to five guys each get the ball in our offense. Wayne probably touches it 10-12 times per game. They all share it. It’s not like he’s taking a pounding and carrying it 25-30 times each week. So Clemson is getting a running back that is fresh.”
Dabo Swinney and Clemson were the first team to offer Gallman.
“I think the No. 1 thing for Wayne with Clemson is the family atmosphere they have,” Conn said. “The coaches and players are so friendly and outgoing. He also really liked the academic part of it and their academic center. They hold the kids accountable.”
