Linebacker Jarrad Davis (Kingsland, Ga./Camden County) became Auburn’s eighth commitment this past Saturday, as he pledged to the Tigers over Tennessee at Auburn’s A-Day spring game.
“It’s just a place where I just really enjoyed the school overall,” Davis said. “I love the campus and the entire university itself. I really wanted to commit on this visit and I did just that after speaking with coach (Tommy) Thigpen.”
A big reason why Davis also made the decision was their defense and the opportunity on The Plains.
“I talked [scholarship] numbers with coach Thigpen and how many linebackers they wanted to take with this class,” Davis said. “So it all sounded good so I took that chance and committed.
“I think I will fit in well. And I really believe I can be effective in their defense once I have time to learn it. I think it will be a really good system and I will be a good asset to the team.”
Davis, 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds, says his decision it was a fairly easy decision for him in the end.
“It was Auburn over Tennessee,” Davis said. “Me and my mom took a visit to Tennessee and it was nice. But honestly, we just didn’t enjoy it as much. I knew it was Auburn for a while but I didn’t know when I would commit. It just felt right on Saturday.
“Now I feel great. I am not worried about choosing a school. It’s all about winning a state championship at Camden County now.”
