It took just six hours in April for offensive lineman Ira Denson (Madison, Fla./Madison County) to go from virtual unknown to one of the hottest prospects in the state.
Hours after winning the OL MVP award at the Orlando Nike Football Training Camp, Denson said the phone calls started coming.
"It's been non-stop with the phone calls and the visitors," Denson said. "The whole month has been a little crazy but it's exciting that so many programs are interested in me right now."
Denson currently holds offers from Florida State, Tennessee, South Carolina, South Florida, Kentucky, Florida International and Western Kentucky. He is trying to put together trips for the summer.
"I'm going to have a busy summer because I want to see all the schools that offered me," Denson said. "I'd like to make my decision before the start of my senior year so I need to see a lot."
Denson, who weighed in Orlando at 6-foot-3, 316 pounds, appears to have a favorite already lined up.
"I grew up as a Florida State fan so I'm very interested in them," Denson added. "Some of my former teammates like Jacobbi McDaniel and Chris Thompson tell me about how things are up there for them. I like coach [Rick] Trickett and how hard he works the players in practice. South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee and Florida are right there as well."
