Anthony Covington has a top three out of his top five.
While he's primarily considering Maryland, Miami, North Carolina State, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest, he admitted that the Terrapins, Wolfpack and Demon Deacons currently have the inside track.
“Those are probably the three that stick out,” the safety from Charlotte (N.C.) Mallard Creek told ESPN.
Covington said that order could certainly change this summer as he visits some schools. In order to make a decision in August, he's visiting schools this summer in lieu of official visits this fall. He plans to graduate in December and enroll at his chosen college in January.
Covington plans to major in sports medicine and minor in forensic science. Those offerings at three schools – Maryland, Miami and Vanderbilt – have him intrigued.
“I look at education first and each of them have a great sports medicine and forensic science program,” he said. “That kind of piqued my interest. Each one of them compete on and off the field. They produce next-level players. That kind of opened my eyes.”
