Heaven Ready for Official Visits

Bradenton (Fla.) Manatee three-star defensive back Clinton Heaven set the tone for his team’s 48-6 victory over rival Bradenton Southeast on Friday.

The 6-foot, 190-pounder had a couple of bone-jarring hits that got the Manatee defense on track early as they shut down Southeast.

“I couldn’t do anything without the defensive line because they set it up for me to make plays,” Heaven said. “Tonight, those guys did an excellent job. They have been good all season.

Heaven, a three-year starter for Manatee, will finish his high school career undefeated against his rival.

“There’s a lot of satisfaction in beating those guys every year I’ve been here,” Heaven said. “Ever since I can remember it’s always been a great game as far as intensity level.

“Everyone in the area comes out to the game. It’s about 50/50 for Southeast and Manatee. It’s for bragging rights.”

With the exception of an 80-yard touchdown run by sophomore Courtney Allen, Manatee had little problems shutting down Southeast’s offense that had averaged nearly 35 points per game.

“I think we adapted to their offensive scheme pretty quickly,” Heaven said. “Our coaches were on point all week and we followed the game plan.”

Heaven has several major offers and says he’s nearing the point where he will take some official visits.

“I’m pretty wide open,” Heaven said. “I’ll be taking my visits sometime in the next month.

“Vanderbilt, North Carolina and West Virginia will be getting visits.”

Heaven said Illinois, Iowa State and UCF are also in the mix for official visits, and he’ll have further details soon. He is being recruited to play both safety positions.

“All the schools are looking at me for both strong and free safety,” Heaven said. “I play all positions so I can switch it up."

Heaven will be checking out the programs closely on his officials and looking for the perfect fit.

“I’m going to be looking for a comfort in the area, with the program and the coaching staff,” Heaven said. “The place that provides the best opportunities to be successful is where I’m going to go.”
