Southern Miss gets second from Stephenson

On Tuesday, Southern Miss received its second defensive line commitment of the 2013 class from the talent-laden Lithonia (Ga.) Stephenson program.

Defensive end Khari Waithe-Alexander (Lithonia, Ga./Stephenson) made 12.5 sacks and 24 tackles for loss at Alpharetta last season, and he joins Edmend Banks in committing to the Golden Eagles.

"Yes, sir, I committed today," Waithe-Alexander said.

Waithe-Alexander had picked up offers from Ball State, Memphis, MTSU and Rice, but a day after getting the offer from Southern Miss, the 6-foot, 247-pound defensive end decided he would join his teammate in committing to the Conference USA program.

Mississippi State was my top school, but Coach [Jeep] Hunter talked me into a better decision by being a Golden Eagle," Waith-Alexander said.
