Four-star LB Virgile not caught up in hype

Four-star linebacker Lance Virgile (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) already sees the biggest difference between this year's Aquinas team and the group last season.

Thanks in part to a great defensive effort in the final quarter and a half, the Raiders rallied from a 21-10 deficit to defeat Miami Christopher Columbus, 38-28, last weekend in a spotlight matchup at Sun Life Stadium.

"First of all it was a tremendous experience to play at an NFL stadium," Virgile said. "And then to get the victory against a great team made it just that much more special.

"We were down but we continued to grind and last year we didn't do that. We're going to have a great team this year. These are my guys and I'm going to fight with them. As a group we took a stand and decided we weren't going to lose."

Virgile was so excited talking about last week's victory he admitted that he's put his recruitment on the backburner a little bit.

"Oh man things have been all right with my recruitment," Virgile said. "I have 12 offers, generally the same ones that I've had for a while.

"Right now I would say that Houston, UCF and Wake Forest are coming after me the hardest. You can also throw West Virginia into that mix."

Virgile said that Houston and West Virginia will surely get official visits during the season. He has no other visit plans and has not put together a top five yet.
