Offensive lineman Lacy Westbrook committed to UCLA a few weeks back but took an official visit to SMU last weekend and really enjoyed the visit.
“I liked it at SMU, it was real nice,” Westbrook said. “It was a fun trip because I knew a lot of the recruits that were there since it was almost all SoCal guys. They have a nice campus, nice facilities, and I met a lot of nice people.
“Adrian Klemm has been recruiting me over a year and SMU was one of the first schools to offer me. He’s a real good OL coach and we have a great relationship. Right now, I still consider myself a UCLA commit but still on the market, if that makes sense. I like UCLA but I want to look around until they hire a coach to see what else is out there.”
Westbrook said he doesn’t have any other visits scheduled and will likely reach out to a few schools on his own to see what’s up.
“I think I’ll call Washington, Arizona State and Oregon,” Westbrook said. “Washington has offered but I haven’t heard from them in a while. ASU is going through a coaching change but I still want to check them out. I haven’t heard from Oregon in months so I think I’ll give them a call to see what’s going on and see if they’re still interested.”
