Although committed to Oregon, running back Byron Marshall (San Jose, Calif.) will take an official visit to Cal this weekend.
Marshall, the top running back in the West and rated the No. 9 back nationally, scheduled his official visit to Cal before he committed to Oregon and said he wanted to honor his word and still do the trip.
“I’m actually looking forward to it,” Marshall said. “I know it’s a huge weekend and there is a lot of excitement about it. I know a lot of the players coming in and it will be fun to see some of the guys. I’m not worried about anyone trying to pressure me in to decommitting from Oregon. I’m very solid with Oregon and the coaches know I’m taking the visit and are fine with it.
“Ron Gould came in for a home visit this week and he’s a good running back coach and a good guy. Oregon came by the school and will be coming over next week. Like I said, I’m excited for this visit but it’s going to take a lot to get me away from Oregon.”
