Arik Armstead (Elk Grove, Calif./Pleasant Grove) was planning to take an unofficial visit to Cal this weekend and save his last two official visits for out-of-state schools. However, plans have changed.
“The visit will now be an official one,” Gus Armstead, Arik’s father said. “We just figured it was worth it to spend the whole weekend there so Arik could see everything and Cal could have as good a chance as anyone to impress him.
“This week has been busy with home visits from Cal and Oregon Thursday night and Auburn on Friday. All three schools sent their defensive line coaches down so it was great to hear what they all had to say and they were all very impressive.”
Armstead was expected to officially visit Texas and Auburn but with the Bears grabbing official visit No. 4, there is only one more visit left.
“Auburn has been out to see us four or five times,” Armstead said. “Texas hasn’t come at all so we’re definitely feeling a lot more love from Auburn and they’re definitely pushing a lot harder right now for a visit.”
Armstead had previously visited Notre Dame, Alabama and Oregon.
