Georgia QB to check out UCLA

Junior quarterback Eddie Printz (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter) committed early to SMU but recently opened up his recruitment and will take an unofficial visit in January to a school that just recently offered.

Printz, an ESPNU 150 Watch List member, had a big junior season, completing 279 of 437 passes for 3,350 yards and 28 touchdowns. He had strong showings at multiple NIKE Camp and Elite 11 Regional workouts and is being recruited at the national level now.

“UCLA was my most-recent offer, and I’m very excited about that one,” Printz said. “I’ve heard great things about the school, and I’ve been doing a lot of research on them ever since they offered. I know they’re a great academic school, and I heard the campus is beautiful. One of my teammates, Kenny Orjioke, is from Orange County, and he always raved about it. He just committed there and told me how much I would love it.

“I’m going to take an unofficial visit January 13 for the weekend to check the place out and learn more about them. Adrian Klemm was the coach who recruited me at SMU, and he’s recruiting me now at UCLA. He encouraged me to take a visit, so I’m going out there, and we’ll see what it’s all about.”

Printz will visit several other schools in the coming months as well.

“I’m going to be going to Junior Days at South Carolina, Arkansas, Florida and Miami,” Printz said. “I’m also going to Vanderbilt in a couple of weeks for an unofficial visit. Right now, my offers are from Arkansas, SMU, UCLA, Kentucky, South Florida, NC State, Purdue and Cincinnati.

“I still love SMU, and I’m definitely looking at them. The Dallas area is a great place, the school is strong academically and I like June Jones and the offense. Just because I opened things up doesn’t mean I’ve dropped them; they’re still high on my list.”

As for when he wants to make his final decision, Printz said he’s in no rush to end the process this time around.

“I’m in no hurry to commit anywhere,” Printz said. “I think when it feels right, I’ll go ahead and do it. I think when you know, you know, and I’m just looking for the perfect place. They say when you see a school, you get that special feeling, but I have some other things I’m looking for too.

“Most important is feeling at home and comfortable with where I’m at. Academics are big to me, and then I wan to find a great football program that will prepare me and help me to be the best I can. When I find all that, that’s when I’ll make my decision.”
