Could Treggs take one more visit?

Wide receiver Bryce Treggs (Bellflower, Calif./St. John Bosco) is about as solid a commitment to a school as you can possibly be. Treggs announced early to Cal, the same school his father played for, and has been recruiting for the Bears all season. So why would the athlete take one more trip?

Treggs is one of the top receivers in the nation and always seemed destined to be a Bear. He took visits to Arizona State and Notre Dame but said he never once wavered on his commitment to Cal, all the while still recruiting other players to join him in Berkeley.

“I’m going to try and visit UCLA (Jan. 13),” Treggs said. “I’m going to talk with Coach [Steve] Broussard after their bowl game and try and get it set up. I liked UCLA a little early on but didn’t really look that hard at them. Now with the new staff they’re putting together, I’m going to give them a look.

“I heard that Eric Yarber could get the job as receiver coach. He used to be at Arizona State and was the very first coach to offer me. He’s my all-time favorite coach and if they brought him in, I would definitely give them a serious look. It still will take a lot to sway me from Cal but I’ll see what they have to offer.”

As for the talk that Treggs would just take the visit to do some recruiting for the Bears, the receiver said that’s not his intention.

“I would never do that, I have too much respect for any school who tripped me in to do that,” Treggs said. “I respect UCLA and would take the visit serious. That would be disrespectful to visit a school and talk about another school. I didn’t do that at Notre Dame or Arizona State and I wouldn’t do that if I visited UCLA.”
