Jaydon Mickens (Los Angeles, Calif./Dorsey) is coming off an MVP performance in the recent Semper Fi All-American Bowl on Tuesday. The talented receiver will take this weekend off and then has two final official visits lined up.
Mickens, a three-star prospect and rated the No. 48 player in the state, is an explosive player who could see time at receiver and returning punts early in his college career. At this time, his recruitment is basically down to three schools.
“I had a great visit to Washington, and that’s my leader,” Mickens said. “I really like everything about the school. I like the coaching staff, the offense, the players on the team and the opportunity to play early. It’s a good fit, but I still have more trips to take.
“I’m going to Washington State (Jan. 13), and then I have Oregon (Jan. 20). I’m still looking at Cal a little, too, but don’t have anything set up with them. Washington State has come on recently and Coach [Mike] Leach is known for having an explosive offense. I know I could catch a lot of balls playing in the slot in that offense. Oregon is Oregon, not much more needs to say. They have a great offense, they’re explosive and they have a great program right now.”
Mickens said he’ll likely announce his decision close to signing day.
