Mission Viejo, Calif., defensive back Max Redfield attended the UCLA- Arizona basketball game Thursday night and picked up his second scholarship offer right before tipoff.
Redfield is one of the top junior safeties in the region. He plays on both sides of the ball for the Diablos but is being recruited strictly in the secondary. USC offered last month and the Bruins have now followed suit.
“UCLA is a great school, and I’m really excited about this offer,” Redfield said. “I went to the UCLA basketball game last night and talked to Jim Mora before the game started. He pulled me a side to talk to me and told me I had an offer, so that was pretty exciting and it’s a big deal having offers from both two local schools now.
“I have family members who went to USC and UCLA, so I’m sure I’ll have some people pushing me one way or the other. I’m actually from Connecticut, so I didn’t grow up as a fan other either team. To be honest, basketball was my first love when I got to high school. When my family moved to Huntington Beach, I was supposed to go to Edison and play basketball. My mom re-married and I moved to Mission Viejo and started playing football and here I am.”
Don’t be surprised to see Redfield’s offer list hit double digits sometime during the spring.
