Junior TE has three early leaders

One of the top tight ends in the West region next year will likely be Riverside (Calif.) J.W North athlete Marcus Baugh. Baugh, who’s also a talented basketball player, has one offer on the table and an early top three.

Baugh, an ESPNU 150 Watch List member, had a solid junior season with 17 catches for 373 yards and four touchdowns. He started at linebacker as well and could play on either side of the ball in college.

UCLA was first to offer the athlete and offer No. 2 could be around the corner.

“I heard Nebraska is real close,” Baugh said. “Michigan and USC have also been by the school, and I hear Colorado is real interested as well. So things are good right now, and I’m looking forward to going through the recruiting process.

“I’m working on getting bigger and stronger for next season. I think my athleticism is already there and I have strong hands so if I can put on some weight, I’ll feel real good about where I’m at.”

Although it’s early in the process, Baugh said three schools currently stand out.

“USC is my favorite school,” Baugh said. “After them I like Miami a lot and I would like to hear a little more from Oregon. It’s early for me though and I’m open to whoever wants to recruit me. I’m in no hurry to commit and plan to go through the recruiting process a bit before making a decision.”
