Offensive lineman Joshua Garnett (Puyallup, Wash.) took his final official visit to Stanford this past weekend. The talented lineman has set his announcement date and will decide among the Cardinal, Michigan and Notre Dame.
“I had a great time at Stanford and have a real good comfort level there,” Garnett said. “I took an unofficial visit just a few months ago, and I already feel like I know so much about the school and the campus. I was with Kyle Murphy a lot, and we both had been there multiple times but wanted to come back and meet all the recruits kind of see how we clicked with the guys on the team.
“There was a good group of committed players there and we all got along really well. With Stanford, it’s a unique place and the people that are there are not just great athletes but great students as well. You kind of feel like you’re around other football players that are just like you when you’re at Stanford and that’s a cool feeling. They’re looking at me as a guard and Stanford has a very good OL class already and I know if I went there, I could be a part of something pretty special.”
Garnett said he plans to take the next few weeks to think over his decision and then he’ll be ready to make an announcement.
“I’m going to commit on Jan. 26,” Garnett said. “All three of these schools are still in it, and I’m just going to weigh the pros and cons of each of them. I know I can’t make a bad choice. These are three schools that not only have great football programs but academically, are top notch as well.
“I had great visits to all three schools, I have great relationships with the coaching staffs at each program and I’m very comfortable with the players and some of the recruits going to those schools as well. It’s going to be a tough choice, but I’m excited to make it and looking forward to putting this recruiting process behind me.”
