Devian Shelton (Inglewood, Calif.) visited Washington over the weekend. The defensive back said he had a good time but the Huskies still have some ground to make up.
Shelton has visited Arizona, Nebraska and Oregon State and will take his final official visit to Tennessee next weekend.
"I liked it at Washington, they have a cool thing going there," Shelton said. "The team chemistry is what stood out for me. You can tell the guys are really close to one another and the players also have a good relationship with the coaching staff and that's important to me.
"It was funny to see Coach [Keith] Heyward there because he was the coach recruiting me to Oregon State. I talked with him and coach Sark [Steve Sarkisian] quite a bit, and they told me there's a lot of opportunity to play early. They feel I could play corner or safety and also see time in the nickel and dime packages as well. There was some snow on the ground, and it was a little cold, but that doesn't mean anything to me. I could care less about the weather. I had a good visit, and I'm definitely looking at them hard."
Going in to the visit, Shelton had Oregon State and Nebraska as his top two. Did the Huskies do enough to crack his top two?
"I liked it there a lot, but Oregon State is still my leader, and Nebraska is right there as well," Shelton said. "I just have a great vibe at Oregon State and Nebraska was my best visit, hands down. It's not anything against Washington; it's a great school. I just have a better feel and comfort level at the other two right now.
"Tennessee still wants me to visit, so I'm going to check them out and then make my final decision. I have some home visits next week but don't remember all the dates. I know Nebraska is coming over Monday, but that's all I know for sure right now."
