Defensive lineman Aziz Shittu (Atwater, Calif./Buhach Colony) took his fourth and final official visit to UCLA this past weekend and said the Bruins are a definite player in his recruitment.
Shittu has already visited Cal, Stanford and USC and has listed those three at the top of his list with UCLA brining up the rear. Did the visit chance things for the talented lineman?
“UCLA is definitely in there now too, I had a great visit,” Shittu said. “I really enjoyed the campus and the lifestyle there and the intensity the new staff is bringing to the program. What I enjoyed most was hanging out with Coach [Jim] Mora and seeing what a cool person he is. I liked him a lot.
“The scheme fits me pretty well, too. They’ll be running multiple sets, and I’ll be working both inside and out. In the 3-4 scheme, I’ll play the five technique and in the 4-3 scheme, I’ll slide inside and play the three tech. I have a good relationship with Angus McClure, the DL coach as well. He has been recruiting me along with coach [Adrian] Klemm. Coach McClure worked with the offensive line last year, but I think that could work because he knows what offenses do and how to counter it.”
Shittu said his family came up with him on the visit and had a great time as well. He’s planning to announce his choice Wednesday at 2 p.m. PT at his high school.
"I’m going to take the next few days to think everything over,” Shittu said. “For me, it’s going to come down to comfort and feel. Just where I feel the most comfortable, that where I’ll be going. Right now, it’s a four team race, everyone is still in it and I’m looking forward to making my announcement.”
