It's likely that the calendar flipping to July will signal a big addition for one Pac-12 program, as linebacker Michael Hutchings (Concord, Calif./De La Salle) said on Monday that he will make a commitment on July 1.
USC long held the lead for Hutchings, but a recent visit to Washington made a big impression on the nation's No. 59 recruit. He said after the visit that he would like to take longer looks at Notre Dame, Oklahoma and California as well and that his original decision to commit this summer could be pushed back. But the news on Monday is keeping in line with his original time line of an early July commitment.
Next week, Hutchings will make his final summer visit, as he will attend USC's Rising Stars camp. He said he will attend both days, although he'll likely participate in just the second day. He added that the USC coaches wanted to get him back down to campus to spend some time around the staff and get a feel for how linebacker coach Scottie Hazelton operates on the field.
