Pac-12 programs monitoring Jayon Brown

After some rumblings that Jayon Brown (Long Beach, Calif./Poly) could commit before his senior season, the 5-foot-10, 180-pound outside linebacker said he will likely wait until after the season.

Brown already holds offers from Colorado and Colorado State, but has been in regular contact with UCLA and Utah as well. Bruins linebackers coach Jeff Ulbrich is recruiting Brown.

“He is talking about watching me throughout the season,” Brown said. “He gives me tips on how to play the game and how to get in the right mindset. He would like me to be a Bruin.”

Colorado is likely the team to beat for Brown, who will visit the Buffaloes during the season, but several programs could make a push over the coming months.

“Right now I’m open-minded,” Brown said. “I want to get through all my visits first, because if I do commit, I want to see if I can see myself at a college for the next four years. I want to be sure.”

Brown is capable of playing safety as well, but is being recruited purely as an outside linebacker.

“I can be more aggressive there,” Brown said. “I like it better because it’s closer to the ball. I can make more plays and get into the backfield.”
