Bulldogs add in-state LB Stephen Van Hook

The Fresno State coaching staff received some good news Saturday morning, as they prepared to host San Diego State in the Bulldogs' homecoming game. Outside linebacker Stephen Van Hook (Perris, Calif./Citrus Hill) called the Bulldogs' coaches and informed them of his commitment.

"I called the coaches this morning and told them I wanted to be a Bulldog," Van Hook said.

The 6-foot-1, 212-pound linebacker held scholarship offers from Fresno State and Washington State, but after witnessing the Bulldogs' drubbing of Colorado two weeks ago, he'd seen enough.

"I've seen where the team is going, and the coaches showed me what they're going to be bringing to the program," Van Hook said of what helped him make his decision.

Van Hook has helped the Hawks to a 5-0 record this season, as he has 12 tackles and four sacks in the early going.

"The coaches were real fired up about me [committing]," Van Hook said. "I'm excited to be going there and my family is excited too, to be able to come see me play."

He said that while he won't shut his recruitment down completely, provided other programs step forward with scholarship offers this spring, he is fully committed to Fresno State and looking forward to getting on campus next season.
