ESPN 300 CB Hunt enjoys Nebraska visit

Four-star cornerback Dashon Hunt (Westlake, Calif./Westlake) made an early commitment to the UCLA Bruins, but programs have pounced on the 5-foot-9, 175-pound athlete ever since he opened up his recruitment before the start of his senior season.

This past weekend, Hunt, the nation's No. 154 player, took his first official visit to Nebraska.

"I had a good time," Hunt said. "The fans were great, the facilities were great and the coaches were really good."

It was Hunt's first time experiencing what Nebraska had to offer, and like many West Coast recruits, he came back with one overwhelming memory.

"Most of all it was the fans," Hunt said. "How big they are out there and how much they really care about the program is the biggest thing I'll remember about that trip. Also, how cool the coaches were and how nice the facilities are, but the No. 1 thing is the fans."

Several more programs will have opportunities to make an impression on Hunt, who committed to the Bruins during his junior season but said he is happy to have taken a step back so that he will be able to further evaluate his options. Hunt said official visits to Arizona and California will be scheduled, as the Cornhuskers, Wildcats and Golden Bears are set in his top group of schools. They are joined there by Boise State, Oregon State and Washington, and Hunt said he will eventually have to trim that group to a list of five official visits, after which he will make his decision.

"Right now my thought process is to take all my official visits first and decide from there," Hunt said. "It could be on signing day or right after my officials."
