2015 QB Ricky Town is offered by UCLA

At this rate, Ricky Town (Ventura, Calif./St. Bonaventure) must look forward to the weekend even more than the average high school student. For the second weekend in a row, the 6-foot-4, 190-pound sophomore quarterback added an offer from a BCS program. Last weekend, the Miami Hurricanes offered while Town was on an unofficial visit. On Saturday, Town added an offer from the UCLA Bruins.

"They were at my game last night and told me to give them a call," Town said of the Bruins' coaches. "I called this morning and talked to the offensive coordinator [Noel Mazzone], and he said he'd love to have me and that I had an offer."

Town said he was excited to receive the offer and thinks the early attention and recognition from Miami could have opened the eyes of additional programs. While the sophomore hasn't fully jumped into the recruiting process at this point, he said he is somewhat familiar with the UCLA coaches.

"I met them in the spring and I like the coaches there," Town said. "They work really well with quarterbacks. [Mazzone] said several NFL quarterbacks work with them during the offseason. That's impressive."

While the UCLA coaches have likely been monitoring Town for some time, Friday night's performance probably played a role in the offer as well. For the first time all season, the St. Bonaventure Seraphs worked with a no-huddle offense, with Town leading the way in a 35-7 win.

"Our offense looked really good," Town said. "I thought that worked well for the first time running it in a game."

Town won't be in attendance at any college games this weekend, but he does have a visit on his calendar next month. He will join several teammates on unofficial visits to the Rose Bowl on Nov. 3 to watch UCLA host Arizona.
