Oregon State lands California OL

Oregon State picked up a commitment this weekend from offensive lineman Garrett Weinreich (Arroyo Grande, Calif.), who was on an official visit to Corvallis.

“I just loved it there,” Weinreich said. “The coaches are amazing, they have a great staff and I really like the city of Corvallis as well. It just felt like home and I was very comfortable with everyone I met, including all the players on the team.

“They’re building a strong recruiting class and my quarterback, Brent Vanderveen, is already committed there, so it will be cool to go in with someone I’m close to. My mom came with me on the visit and she loved it too, and we both feel like it’s a great environment for me to spend the next four or five years of my life.”

Weinreich was among the most heavily recruited offensive linemen in the state. He held offers from Arizona, Colorado, Fresno State, San Diego State, San Jose State, SMU, Utah and Washington State. The trip to Oregon State was the first official visit the lineman took.

“I’m good on visits, I don’t think I’ll be taking anymore trips,” Weinreich said. “I'm still thinking about it, but I have a really good feeling about Oregon State. I think when you find the right place, you just know it, and that’s how I feel about Oregon State. I had some other great options but I’m happy to be a Beaver and happy to have the process behind me.”
