CB Cole Luke is on board with Notre Dame

His homework completed on the recruiting process, cornerback Cole Luke (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) felt comfortable enough to make a commitment on Thursday morning, as the four-star defender joined Notre Dame’s 2013 recruiting class.

Luke confirmed his commitment in a text message to ESPN.com

Luke narrowed his choices down to a final three of Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Texas earlier this fall, and the cornerback took official visits to each program. His decision comes just days after his visit to Oklahoma, when he saw the Fighting Irish come away with a big win.

Luke is commitment No. 22 in the class of 2013 for Notre Dame, and he joins a terrific defensive class, led by ESPN 150 prospects Jaylon Smith (Fort Wayne, In./Bishop Leurs), Alex Anzalone (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing), Isaac Rochell (McDonough, Pa./Eagles Landing) as well as fellow cornerback and ESPN 300 recruit Devin Butler (Washington, DC/Gonzaga College).

Luke has been a standout on both sides of the ball for Hamilton this season, as the Huskies ran off eight consecutive wins after opening the season 0-3. Luke will lead his team into its first-round playoff game on Friday night, against Gilbert (Ariz.) Highland.

This is the second time in two years Notre Dame has gone into Arizona for a top prospect, as the Fighting Irish signed athlete Davonte Neal (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral) -- the No. 1 athlete in the country -- in last year’s class.
