2015 OT Zach Okun adds second offer

If you're looking for the top big men in California for the 2015 class, feel free to throw Zach Okun (Newbury Park, Calif./Newbury Park) in the mix. The 6-foot-4, 305-pound sophomore already holds a scholarship offer from UCLA, and on Friday morning, picked up his second from the Pac-12 as Washington stepped into the mix.

"It kind of came out of nowhere," Okun said. "A few weeks ago, one of my assistant coaches was talking to them and he showed them my film. Today they were talking again and they wanted me to give them a call."

It's fitting that the two offers Okun now holds are from the two programs with which he is most familiar.

"I grew up in Seattle and have always been kind of a Washington fan," he said. "When I moved to Southern California, I became a UCLA fan. Right now I have no preference because I've watched them both a lot."

Okun moved away from Seattle when he was 5 years old and admitted that he doesn't have much memory of the area. He added that although his father loves Washington, Okun doesn't believe that will play a role in his decision.

"I don't want to rush into anything," Okun said. "I want to take my time. Picking a college is a big decision. I'm going to take a few visits."

Pac-12 programs have been the schools showing the most interest thus far. Okun said Oregon and Washington will be on campus next week. He has also heard from some schools on the East Coast, including Boston College and Clemson. But Okun said again that he is in no hurry to move through the recruiting process.

"I just kind of embrace it," he said. "I've worked really hard and it's starting to pay off. It's really exciting. Getting this second one is just as exciting as the first one. I'm going to enjoy the ride."
