Visits don't sway USC commit Hawkins

The top cornerback at the 2012 Cal-State Game in Visalia, Calif., has been as advertised during the South team's practices this week.

ESPN 150 CB Chris Hawkins (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga) has been a USC commit since April, but that hasn't stopped him from taking other visits and talking to other schools.

While there have been visits taken and rumors floating around for months, the No. 11 CB in the nation is still solid with the Trojans. Previous visits to Cal, Notre Dame and Washington did nothing to dissuade Hawkins from sticking with his dream school.

"I wanted the opportunity to see what other schools are like," Hawkins said. "They were all good schools and programs, but USC is my dream school."

Hawkins added that he is unsure where high school teammate S Tahaan Goodman (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga) will sign in February.

"I don't know what Tahaan's doing," Hawkins said. "He scheduled five visits, but he has only been to UCLA. I think he's announcing at the Army game but I really don't know."

Hawkins is, however, interested in getting two other uncommitted players added to USC's 2013 class, currently rated No. 2 in the ESPN Class Rankings.

"We are gonna be real nice," Hawkins said of the group. "We just need to get A'Shawn [Robinson] and Leon [McQuay III] to get on board, and we're good."
