Lakewood (Calif.) wide out Darius Powe took his first official visit to Oregon State over the weekend and said he enjoyed his time in Corvallis.
“I had a lot of fun there, and I liked everything about the visit,” Powe said. “It was long. I didn’t get home until late Sunday night but it was a good trip and I can definitely see myself there. They played a great game against Washington and the offense looked really explosive. The game day atmosphere and just seeing the fans go crazy was the best part of the visit for me.
“Oregon State is known for having a family feel to it, and I definitely sensed that. They have a great coaching staff, and I liked the small town feel of Corvallis. It’s different than Lakewood but I could easily get used to it. They never tried to pressure me about committing at all but I actually thought about it. The only reason I held off is because this was my first visit but Oregon State is going to be tough to beat.”
Powe would like to take at least two more visits before making his decision.
“I have Utah set for (Dec. 16),” Powe said. “I want to visit UCLA, too, but I haven’t set that one yet. These are the main three schools I’m looking at and once I visit all three, I should be ready to make my decision.”
