KeiVarae Russell moves up Pac-12 visit

Running back KeiVarae Russell (Everett, Wash./Mariner) was originally scheduled to visit Cal for the Bears big weekend Dec. 9 but has now moved his visit up a week.

Russell has already visited Notre Dame and will likely take at least three more official visits before making his decision.

“I was supposed to visit on [Dec. 9] but there is going to be a ton of players there already,” Russell said. “I talked to Coach [Jeff] Tedford and Coach [Ron] Gould and they asked me to visit this weekend instead so they could spend more time with me and I could get a lot more personal attention.

“I want to commit in late December or early January so it was good to be able to take a visit this weekend and have the rest of the month to schedule my other trips. It would have been fun to be at Cal with all the other guys and I know a lot of the players visiting, but this is a smarter move for me.”

Russell said he’s still hoping to schedule visits with USC and Washington as well before making his final decision.

“USC has been hard to get a hold of, I’ve been calling them,” Russell said. “I’m going to call them again this week and see what’s up. Washington is on me hard and I told them they would be my last official visit. I hope to have all these schools in for home visits as well and Notre Dame is coming later tonight (Tuesday).”
