USC lands Watch List DL Bigelow

ESPNU Watch List DT Kenny Bigelow (Bear, Del./Red Lion Christian Academy) visited USC over the weekend and said he saw no reason to go through the process any longer.

So Bigelow, one of the top prospects for the Class of 2013, committed to the Trojans on Wednesday.

“Man, USC is like a dream come true for me,” Bigelow said. “That was the first time I’ve ever been to the West Coast before and I’ve never seen anything like that. The crowd was huge, the game atmosphere was incredible, I mean I’ve never seen that many people in one place before.

“The thing that really sealed it for me was Ed Orgeron. What a great man and he’s already like a father figure to me. He reminds me a lot of my current DL coach and I know he’s going to push me to be the best player I can be. He doesn’t care who you are or how many stars you have, he’s going to drive you and make you better and that’s what I’m looking for.”

Bigelow, 6-foot-3 and 280 pounds, attended the Nike camp at Rutgers last summer and was one of the stars of the event. He plays all over the line for Red Lion but said he was recruited to play defensive tackle by the Trojans.

“I never expected to commit this early but USC just blew me away on the visit,” Bigelow said. "The city is beautiful, the people there are all so happy and I just love the environment. I think when you know, you know, and I could tell USC was the place for me.

“I might still take some visits just for the experience next year but I’m a solid commitment and there’s no way I’m going anywhere else other than USC. I’m so excited and pumped up right now to have this decision out of the way and to go to a great school like USC, like I said, it’s a dream come true.”

The Trojans already have a commitment from 2015 Red Lion quarterback David Sills and could land another player from the school as well. Junior offensive lineman Khaliel Rodgers, who was the OL MVP at the Rutgers Nike camp, is also high on the Trojans.

“We’ve already talked,” Bigelow said. “He knows what’s up and he loves USC too. If USC offers him, he’s going to jump on it just like I did. I would love to play with him in college so hopefully USC offers because he’s definitely good enough.”

Auburn, Clemson, Illinois, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Virginia and UCLA were just a few of the other schools who had offered Bigelow.
