Cal bringing in national talent

The Bears are expected to bring in about 20 players next week in what will likely be the most star-studded visit weekend for any school out West this year. This weekend isn’t bad either as tight end Taylor McNamara (San Diego, Calif./Westview) and a handful of other talented players coming in as well.

• Athlete Derrick Woods (Inglewood, Calif.) just added Cal to his list in the last couple of weeks and the Bears are now in his top two along with Oklahoma.

Daje Johnson (Pflugerville, Texas./Hendrickson) is a TCU commit and solid with the Horned Frogs, but reports are he could be in Berkeley. Johnson is the one the fastest players in the nation and a very talented cover corner.

• Another committed player planning to visit is offensive lineman Christian Okafor (Houston, Texas./Westbury). Okafor, a Texas Tech commit, has already visited Stanford and Arizona State and looks very open right now.

• Five-star athlete Stefon Diggs (Olney, Md./Good Counsel), No. 10 in the ESPNU 150, has a list of about seven or eight schools but has consistently mentioned the Bears on his short list.

• Running back KeiVarae Russell (Everett, Wash./Mariner) has visited Notre Dame and will also visit Washington and USC. Russell attended the Bears' junior day in the summer and Cal has a real solid shot right now.
