McKenzie makes strong program stronger

Every year it seems the Concord (Calif.) De La Salle football program does more with less than any high school team in the country. Rarely blessed with large numbers of FBS recruits, the Spartans have used technique and tenacity to outplay seemingly more talented teams for years. Last season, De La Salle steamrolled to a perfect season, including five thunderous playoff wins, which came with a 170-point margin of victory.

But if California programs think De La Salle will take a step back after losing Michael Hutchings to USC and Austin Hooper to Stanford, the crop of 2014 recruits will serve as an unwelcome reminder -- and a surprise in the 2015 class could turn them downright depressed.
