Husky commit is now headed to Oregon

Jeremy Castro (Murrieta, Calif./Vista Murrieta) came back to his first love this past weekend committing to Oregon after being a previous Washington commit.

“I’m a Duck,” Castro said. “I wanted to tell the other coaches about my decision but it kind of leaked out, and I’m sorry for that. Oregon just felt right and truthfully it’s the school I’ve always wanted to go to.”

Castro looked like an Oregon lock all summer before he surprisingly announced for the Huskies. At the time, Castro said he felt like the Ducks had backed off him and weren’t making him the same priority the Huskies had.

“There was some miscommunication between us but obviously it got worked out,” Castro said. “I was looking forward to visiting Oregon and it blew me away. I can’t really describe it but it felt like home. I love everything about the school, from the football program, to the coaches, the defense, how they plan to use me, you name it and I loved it.

“There is an energy at Oregon that is unmatched and the team is so fun to watch. I love the pace they play at and the crowd gets you so fired up. I’ll play outside linebacker but rush the passer a lot on passing downs, which is a perfect fit for me."

In addition to the Ducks and Huskies, Castro also held offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, LSU, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, UCLA and Washington State.
