Cleveland Wallace (San Jose, Calif./Oak Grove) has been a long time commitment to Oregon State but the Beavers had to fight off some major competition from Washington and Boise State to keep the standout corner.
“I made my final decision Thursday night, and I’m going to stick with Oregon State,” Wallace said. “It came down to Oregon State and Washington and it was really close. I mean, really close between the two but in the end. I just felt most comfortable at Oregon State.
“Coach [Mark] Banker and coach [Bruce] Read just left my house and it just felt right at Oregon State. What they said made sense to me and the bottom line is I believe in coach [Mike] Riley. Even though they haven’t hired a DB coach yet, I believe that coach Riley will make a good hire and I’m not even worried about it.”
Wallace said coach [Joel] Thomas from Washington came over for a home visit Wednesday and make a great case for the Huskies. In the end, the athlete he was just following his heart and that kept him a Beaver.
