BYU's class takes shape

Brigham Young's camp this week was a major success as the Cougars secured six commitments, multiple sources report.

The newest Cougars are: DT Merrill Taliauli (Salt Lake City/East), S Garrett England (Salt Lake City/Skyline), FB Patrick Palau (Salt Lake City/East), QB Kaimana Nacua (Henderson, Nev./Liberty) and WRs Hayden Weichers (South Jordan, Utah/Bingham) and Tanner Shipley (Wilsonville, Ore./Wilsonville).

The wide receivers were the most heavily sought-after of the group. Shipley chose the Cougars over offers from Oregon State and Wyoming and Weichers spurned an offer from Utah State.

England, who also stars on the hardwood, made the most of the camp circuit. He was MVP of camps at Utah, Utah State and Brigham Young, but the Cougars were his only offer. His high school coach Steve Marlowe raved about him to the Salt Lake Tribune:

"Just a physical specimen, a great-looking athlete."

Nacua is also quite the physical specimen, as he registered a 100.41 SPARQ rating on the combine circuit. His athleticism gives him positional versatility for the next level.

The Cougars have 18 commitments for the Class of 2013.
