CB L.J. Moore enjoys Notre Dame visit

Cornerback L.J. Moore (Fresno, Calif./Central) is one of the more sought-after uncommitted players in California, and the 6-foot, 164-pound athlete gave Notre Dame the first opportunity to make a statement with an official visit over the weekend.

"It was my first official visit, so I wasn't sure what to expect. But it went great," Moore said. "The atmosphere and the fans and the tradition with the school were just great."

Moore is plenty familiar with what Notre Dame has to offer. The Fighting Irish recruit California hard and their national presence has not gone unnoticed by the cornerback. But even with that knowledge, Moore said he still wasn't prepared for the trip.

"You always hear about how great it is, but words can't live up to what you see," Moore said. "It's crazy how great the atmosphere is."

Moore said the two things he will carry with him from the visit are the feeling of family shared by the school, community and program, as well as the famed Notre Dame tradition.

"It made me very excited about Notre Dame," Moore said of the trip. "It made me sure why they're toward the top for me right now, No. 1 or No. 2."

UCLA is the other school at the top of Moore's list, but additional programs will have a chance to make a statement as well. He will take official visits to Cal on Oct. 5, Oregon State on Oct. 19 and Oklahoma on Oct. 26, as well as UCLA on Nov. 2. Though he enjoyed the visit very much, Moore said he never got the urge to pull the trigger on a commitment. He said he wanted to be able to discuss any such decision with his parents, who did not accompany him on the trip. He added that while there is still plenty of time until signing day and he has all five visits scheduled, a commitment could come at any time--whenever he feels comfortable in his decision.
