Patrick Enewally close to setting visits

Patrick Enewally (Cerritos, Calif./Gahr) missed the first two games of his senior season for a family vacation, but it didn't take him long to make an impact once he stepped onto the field. In his first game back, Enewally hauled in four passes for 101 yards and three touchdowns in a blowout victory. He almost matched that production in his second game, with five catches for 85 yards and two scores.

"It feels good to be back," Enewally said.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound athlete is preparing for his recruitment to ramp up, as well. The Gladiators have a bye this week, so Enewally will spend the next few days looking to set up his first official visit. He said Arizona and Boise State definitely will receive official visits, while Northwestern and Washington could receive visits, as well.

Though he doesn’t hold an offer from the Huskies, Enewally said the Washington coaching staff has been in regular contact.

“Washington is pretty high on me,” he said. “I was supposed to go up there during the summer, but I didn’t have a chance to. I’m in pretty good contact with them.”

Enewally added that California and UCLA have expressed interest as well, and the coaches from those schools told him they will monitor his performance over the early part of the season.

He said he is in no hurry to make a commitment but also wouldn’t hold back on making one if it felt right. Enewally believes the official visits he sets up will play a big role in his decision.

“You have to have that feeling when you take an official visit,” he said of the school that will eventually earn his commitment. “It’s the place that just feels like that’s where you’re supposed to be.”

Though Enewally plays on both sides of the ball and has spent extensive time at safety, he said every school is recruiting him as a cornerback, which fits him well.

“I’m more comfortable at corner,” he said. “I like cornerback because -- and this is nothing against safety -- cornerback is a little more intriguing. You’re actually going one-on-one with someone, and you can see who is better. I believe I’m a dynamic player that can play both (cornerback and safety).”

In addition to Arizona, Boise State and Northwestern, Enewally holds offers from Hawaii, Idaho, San Diego State, San Jose State, Utah and Utah State.
