2014 QB Devon Palomino has visits planned

Junior quarterback Devon Palomino (Glendale, Ariz./Deer Valley) is accustomed to hitting the road. This past summer, the 6-foot-4, 211-pound quarterback attended camps at Arizona, Boise State, UCLA and USC. This weekend, Palomino will leave the state again, as he will take an unofficial visit to Idaho.

The Vandals coaches are very familiar with Palomino, as his older brother -- Addison Palomino -- is a freshman outside linebacker at Idaho.

This won't be the last trip this month for Palomino, who will also travel to UCLA on Nov. 17 for the Bruins' home game against USC. The quarterback said he has a few goals in mind with each visit he takes.

"I'm looking for location and how the school feels," he said. "Academics is a big thing because my dad wants me to get my education. I also want to see how the coaches are and how I vibe at each school."

Palomino said he grew up as a Notre Dame fan, but also likes several West Coast programs and wouldn't mind staying closer to home for college. The Pac-12 is now home to a variety of offensive systems and Palomino is aware of his abilities and what would fit him best.

"I like a pocket-passing offense," he said. "We run a spread, but I feel like I'm more of a pocket passer, able to sit back and throw. I can still run, but I would rather sit in the pocket and get the ball out."

In addition to Idaho and UCLA, Palomino said he has also received letters from Oklahoma. He added that he is looking forward to hitting the camp circuit again next spring and hopes to hear from more schools once he puts his junior season highlight tape together in the coming weeks.
