Wide receiver Thomas Tucker (Long Beach, Calif./Poly) has known for months where he will play his college football next season. On Sunday, he let everybody in on the secret.
Tucker committed to the San Jose State coaches in early September, a few months after he received his offer from the Spartans.
"I loved the coaching staff and the players were really friendly towards me," Tucker said of San Jose State. "I loved the campus and the surroundings. It's a great city."
Tucker added that he is impressed with the improving Spartans football team as well, which sits at 8-2 this season.
"I just wanted to put it out there that I'm fully committed," he said of why he chose to announce it this week. "Even though I was always committed, it feels like it's permanent now."
The 5-foot-9, 173-pound, two-way standout said he believes he will play cornerback for the Spartans, but added that the coaches could allow it to play out with some flexibility on his position. Given his choice, Tucker would push himself to play on the offensive side of the ball.
Tucker, commitment No. 8 for the Spartans' 2013 recruiting class, will take his official visit to San Jose State on Dec. 7, along with his parents.
