The recruiting trail is often made up of twists and turns, and just when you think you’ve seen it all, something new pops up.
USC closed up the month of April by offering a scholarship to ESPN 300 receiver Ryan Newsome and joined the race for the speedster with a little help from former running backs coach Tommie Robinson, who is now at Texas.
“USC coach Tee Martin and Coach Robinson are real good buddies, and Coach Martin called him one day to tell him he was coming after me,” said Newsome, who is from Aledo, Texas. “Coach Robinson relayed the message to me and told me if I don’t go to Texas, he would rather lose me to Coach Martin over anybody else. Coach Martin had good news for me and I’m really excited.”
