How the St. Louis Rams handle the No. 2 overall pick in the draft remains entirely up in the air. They could trade the pick or draft Jadeveon Clowney (if the Houston Texans don't do so at No. 1), a top O-lineman or WR Sammy Watkins. The Rams have downplayed their desire to add a wideout that early in the draft, but that doesn't mean that Watkins isn't in play at No. 2.
"[D]espite all the signals from Rams Park about standing pat at wide receiver — including some public statements by coach Jeff Fisher and general manager Les Snead — it’s believed there are some in the building who would like to take Watkins," wrote Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
“With Bailey and Austin, you probably have enough (talent), if they are established guys,” said NFL analyst Russ Lande, a former Rams scout. “But at this point you don’t know.”
In the end, Thomas thinks the Rams will take Texas A&M offensive tackle Jake Matthews if Clowney is off the board.
"Under this scenario, the Rams have a couple of options: trade down or take an offensive tackle," he wrote. "I don't think they'll take Sammy Watkins. I think they'll take Matthews over Greg Robinson."
