UPDATE: Tom E. Curran of CSNNE.com reports that, "A source tells me Ryan Mallett to the Texans may soon be done."
Nothing is final, though: "Not a done deal at all but the machinations have begun. Second source says nothing doing at the moment on Mallett to Houston. We'll watch how it plays out. Makes sense if Clowney is No. 1."
If the Texans end up with Ryan Fitzpatrick and Mallett in their QB corps, we could safely presume that they would not take a quarterback with either of their top two picks.
UPDATE: Per ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, "Houston is now locked in on its player and is not expecting a trade, per sources. Texans happy to sit at 1 and take player it wants."
Most of the current buzz is that the Texans will take Jadeveon Clowney atop the draft. However, as noted below, their Round 2 pick appears to remain firmly on the trade block.
We finally are counting the hours -- and soon the minutes -- until the draft officially kicks of this evening, which means all eyes are on the Houston Texans. What will GM Rick Smith do with the top pick?
