Carimi saga continues

When the Chicago Bears used a first-round pick on Wisconsin's Gabe Carimi in the 2011 draft, they hoped that he'd be able to lock down one of their OT positions for the foreseeable future. Instead, he hasn't panned out at either spot (neither has anyone else on the roster), and they had to invest big free agent dollars on Jermon Bushrod this offseason. The tentative plan is for Carimi to see what he can do at the guard position, but it's not clear that this will be a solution either; moreover, his path to a starting job at either OG spot is currently blocked by other options. Carimi has remained away from the team during OTAs, as he's elected to work out on his own, so what's the latest?
